The 5 Calls website and app streamline civic engagement by identifying a user's state and federal representatives via ZIP code, providing actionable issues, and offering scripts to read. It enables users to make quick, impactful, daily phone calls in a few minutes to influence officials on current legislation and issues.
If you only have time to make a few calls, or even just one, the list below of priority calls for the next couple of weeks may help you choose. Each link takes you to a description of the bill or topic and the most recent congressional actions taken or pending. The phone number and a link to your senators' and/or representative's office appear below the description. If using your phone to navigate the website or app, click the link and you will be connected to your congressperson's office. Read the script to voicemail or to the person that answers. You can call weekly, even daily, on the same or different topics.

On Friday, Indivisible Scituate is joining with May Day Strong, labor groups, and allies for a day of nonviolent economic disruption: No work, no school, and no shopping. Not everyone will be able to skip a day's pay (or classes), and some spending might be unavoidable, but we're asking folks to stretch their comfort zones a little and do what they can -- and there are already over 3,000 May Day protests, rallies, and other events planned across the country that you can plug into.
As Trump drags us further into illegal wars abroad and ICE terrorizes our communities here at home, we must reject business as usual. We refuse to pad billionaires’ pockets while the cost of gas, groceries, and healthcare rise. On May Day, we’re putting Trump, corporations, and billionaires on notice and reminding them that the real power in this country lies with the people.
There are two easy ways to get involved right now: First, sign the May Day pledge and commit to take collective action in whatever way you can -- calling out of work, walking out of school, or refusing to shop. Then join us at the Scituate Rotary between 3-5pm to show our community that we refuse to bow down to billionaires! Please park at the MBTA Greenbush Commuter Rail station (need to pay). Bring signs and your energy! Please use the crosswalks, nobody is allowed in the middle of the rotary, and DO NOT ENGAGE with counter-protestors! We want to maintain our image of joyful, non-violent protesters! Please sign up here: https://www.mobilize.us/mayday/event/939465/ Share this information and invite a friend!
Hello Indivisibles!

Are you looking for action that you can take that is focused on the upcoming midterm elections in November 2026? Indivisible Scituate is hosting a one-hour House Party in person and via Zoom to introduce you to an organization called Force Multiplier.
Tuesday, April 28th
7:00 pm ET
SCITUATE LIBRARY, COMMUNITY ROOM (IN PERSON) AND VIA ZOOM (SEE LINK BELOW)
Force Multiplier is an all-volunteer organization that helps target actions and donations where they’ll do the most good. And best of all,
They do the research so we don’t have to.
This will be an information session only - NOT a fundraiser. We're hosting this event so that one of the leaders of Force Multiplier can explain their strategy and answer our questions.
To mobilize against the emerging autocracy, Force Multiplier has identified what they believe are the most impactful:
Congressional races that will help flip the House in 2026
Litigation groups to defend the rule of law
Pro-democracy online media/news groups
Actions we can join to resist autocracy
For details about their philosophy and track record, see their website at forcemultiplierus.org.
Action is the antidote to worry, and here are two actions you can take right now:
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, April 28th at 7:00 pm ET; AND forward this invitation to anyone you think might be interested. People are longing to hear about what they can do to make a difference and help defend Democracy at this crucial time.
Please RSVP by replying to this email to let us know if you’re coming on April 28th and whether you plan to attend in person or via Zoom.
If you would like to attend via Zoom, here is the link where you can register any time between now and the event:
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/RZpP_HH9T7ywqRiC1aD7bQ
If you click now and register in advance, you will receive an email confirmation from Zoom that will have a UNIQUE link for you to join the meeting. If you would like to forward a link to someone else, please send the original registration link (above).
To log on to the meeting on April 28 via Zoom, you can always return to this document and click the link above.
(Note: Your email will not be shared with Force Multiplier unless you explicitly give permission.)
We hope to see you on April 28th at 7 pm!

Your Friends at Indivisible Scituate
Hello Indivisibles!
We had a great turnout for our protest for No Kings 3--thank you all! The day was filled with energy, joy, and community. But one day of protest will not change our current regime! We need to protest AND do more!
What is next? Come join us at our monthly meeting, Wed, April 15th, 7pm, Scituate Town Library Community Room to make plans. Even just doing one more thing following our historic day of action can make a difference. Bring a friend--or two!

We are getting ready for Saturday, are you?! https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/905245/
Tonight I thought maybe a bit of creative artistic protest might be the thing we need. You can find this poem online here: https://poets.org/poem/there-are-no-kings-america
we are not that kind of country.
We are sanctuary for the hungry,
the homeless, the huddled,
held together by an idea
our immigrant fathers believed in.
Rendered, it meant independence.
Pursued, it kindled war, ordinance,
a fighting chance. Forty thousand
musket balls, by themselves, did not
shape the boundaries on which we
map our days. To draw our borders,
we needed more than firecakes.
More than a pound of meat
with bone and gristle,
or salt fish and a gill of peas.
We needed the faith and grit of people
who were not yet Americans.
To be an American is to
recognize the sacrifice
of the widow and the orphan;
it is to understand the weft of tent
cities expecting caravans,
and the heft of a child in a camp
not meant for children, or sitting
before a judge awaiting judgement.
What do we say to the native
whose lands we now inhabit?
What do we say to our immigrant
fathers who held certain truths
to be self-evident?
Do we now still pledge to each
other our lives, our fortunes,
our sacred honor.
There are no kings in America.
Only gilded men we can topple
again and again.
Did you know they are hoping we will get to the 3.5% mark for this protest? That means 12 million people! With this in mind, let's be sure we are all on the same page for a positive, joyful day.
Join us in Scituate at the Town Hall lawn, 9:30-10:30am. Sign up so you can be a part of the count: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/905245/

Make sure your phone is fully charged. Consider bringing a portable charger.
Turn off Location Services on your phone. Lock your phone.
Identify a location to meet if you get separated from your friends. Be aware that texting and other messaging may be slow or unavailable for a while because the cell tower will be very busy.

Make sure someone not at the Protest knows your plan
Medical ID bracelet or note pinned to your shirt if you have a condition that would be important for EMTs to know.
Document safely if you take photos or videotape - protect people's privacy. Don’t show faces without permission.
What to Wear

Comfortable shoes. There will be a lot of standing.
A Watch- do not depend on your phone for the time.

Remain peaceful!
Know your rights regarding protests and police interactions
If Confronted by Police:
Stay Calm & Keep Hands Visible – Avoid sudden movements.
Know What to Say – You have the right to remain silent. If detained, ask, "Am I free to go?" If not, say, "I do not consent to a search."

Indivisible Scituate's (IS) Politics/Education Action Group (PEAG) is pleased to provide the following overview of the 5 Calls application that can help you monitor and provide input on Federal legislation/policies that are key in derailing the Trump Administration's unconstitutional directions. In addition to accessing all of the issues identified in the 5 Calls app, we intend to periodically (every 1-2 weeks) provide IS members with our opinion on the most time-sensitive topics that you can give input on to our U.S. Congress members - more information on that will follow soon.
5 Calls is a phone app hosted by a 501c(4) non-profit that helps the public make their voices heard. This group researches issues, writes scripts (that you can use "as is" or modify to fit your message), and provides appropriate Congressional contacts and phone numbers.
Our Congress members listen to phone calls that their constituents make. In comparison, emails must be manually read and sorted, and letters and postcards take time to arrive and get processed. As such, the 5 Calls phone app makes contacting your representatives easy and fast.
Top issues are noted individually with a synopsis of legislation involved. The appropriate contact (based on your location) and the phone number is given for each topic. A suggested script is also provided or you can speak your own words.
An example of an urgent legislative action is the Save Act, where the House has already voted its approval and the Senate will soon schedule a vote. This bill has added new requirements for voters to present proof of citizenship not only when registering, but when actually voting. This bill will hinder millions of Americans that do not have easy access to the required documents. More than 140 million citizens do not have passports. There are 69 million women whose married name will not match their birth certificate. The SAVE Act is designed to block eligible people from voting, not to protect elections.
Download the 5 Calls app to your phone (it is free) to see the issues requiring action. You can find more information about the app at 5 calls.org.
We are suggesting the following actions below. Click to read more and be connected with 5 Calls for info and a script.

Hello Indivisibles,
Everyday it seems there is some new addition to the hellscape of our country, doesn't it? What can we do? is often the question asked. Well, there is a Plan! We need to flip the House in the mid-terms. This will allow for accountability to start happening...and for us to fight our way back to a democracy.
Join us at our monthly meeting this coming Tuesday, Feb. 24, 7pm, Scituate Town Library where Chris Matthews, Chair of the South Shore Democratic Caucus, will give us all the details--and truth--about what we need to do.
What really happens when I email or call Senator Warren? Does she even care?
What about writing out postcards--is it a waste of time?
What does "phone banking" entail?
What does it look like when people take a bus to another state to "canvass"?
What else can I do to help?
Find out about all of the above--and a hint--it ALL matters!
Mark your calendar! Indivisible Scituate will hold a rally for No Kings 3 at Town Hall, March 28th, from 9:30-10:30am. We are encouraging people to go to a larger city (Plymouth, Boston) later in the day so that you can be a part of the mass mobilization and be counted in the larger visibility. Be a part of history for the largest day of protest ever in the US! More info coming soon.
Need help getting connected? We will host a Resilience Connection Cafe at First Parish UU, 330 First Parish Rd, Scituate on Thursday, March 5th from 4-6:30pm. This is a drop in time to learn how to get on Signal, how to use the 5Calls app, how to exercise privacy and safety at a protest, how to use whistles, and red hats as resistance! Coffee, tea, and treats served. Want to help out? Email us at indivisiblescituate@proton.me.

Indivisible Scituate
Hello Indivisibles!
Hope is about taking action in spite of it all. It’s about saying: I will do my bit. And when we join together, those bits become a movement.
Jane Goodall, posted in Chop Wood, Carry Water on 10/9 (Substack)
Did we show up on No Kings 2.0 on October 18th? Yes we did! We are grateful for our collaboration with Indivisible Hingham Hull and March Forward Quincy–what a great group of organizers–and now friends. Did we know how to plan a large rally event with a band and speakers? Nope! Did we do it anyway? Yes we did! Please consider joining us as an event coordinator, a marshal/Peacekeeper, or a helper of any sort for our next event. We need you to keep up our momentum!
Weekly Scituate Stand Outs Continue! Sundays, 12:00-1:00pm, front lawn of First Parish UU Scituate, 330 First Parish Rd. Everyone welcome!
Speaking of that…What’s Next?

Ezra and Leah talked about possible actions against Spotify in their weekly chat (https://youtu.be/KAT-MlSYmbY?si=u-QMi2sIEctqcfTv). Spotify is running recruitment ads for ICE on their platform. You can find out more in this quick video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oM9UtWtW1wY
Financial boycotts of Disney Plus worked amazingly well…could that work with Spotify?

No Kings Rally, October 18, 2025. Indivisible Scituate is collaborating with other local groups to plan a rally in Quincy on their Hancock Common. Now, more than ever, we need to connect and come together. We are waiting to find out the time, and we would like to know if anyone would like to help plan the event.
Call our Senators and Demand they Fight Like Hell! Many of us think: I don't need to call Ed and Elizabeth--they are on "our side." And they are! BUT...it is critically important that they hear from us. Their aides collect data on calls and issues every day, and this is reported back to the Senators. They need to know we care and that we are supporting them--and holding them accountable. Find out more here: Call Markey and Warren to Demand they Fight!

Hello Indivisibles!
Every week there is some new wildness on the political front. Your emotions may go up and down...and around again. We are so glad you are part of this movement. This feels hard, but we are going to do it together. And...we need more of us!
Watch One Million Rising Session 2 to learn about how to organize a Community Resistance Gathering. Have some friends that are feeling upset but don't know what to do? Host a group! Nervous to try this? Reach out to us (indivisiblescituate@proton.me) and we can connect you with someone who will help you lead a group. We need to start talking about organizing more...being mad and being silent is not going to help us fight the authoritarian regime which is here now according to Rachel Maddow.

Woo Hoo Indivisibles!
Did we rock June 14th or what??!! A giant thank you for everyone who participated in this historic event—in body and spirit! We estimate that 500-600 people braved the rain (and parking traffic!) to come to the rotary and say “Scituate Says No Kings!” The energy and positivity was amazing. Many thanks to our wonderful Scituate Police Department who drove around (and around!) the rotary to ensure safety. Our marshals were awesome too!
Another THANK YOU to XR Sandwiches who delivered FREE (and delicious) sandwiches to protesters! You can find them inside the Mobil-C Store on the Driftway.
And yet another THANK YOU to CP’s Woodfired Pizza who delivered free pizzas around the rotary! You can find them at 318 Driftway. Such kindness!

We engaged more than 5 million people on June 14th--and we are not stopping! We want to reach that magical 3.5% of the population. Historically, when nonviolent resistance movements engage at least 3.5% of the population in sustained protest, change has ALWAYS happened. Read about it here or listen on this podcast.

Hingham Unity held a great "Know Your Rights: Immigrants" session. You can find the presentation here, along with important resources: https://hinghamunity.org/immigrants/. Please consider having a conversation with people you are worried are at risk for ICE kidnapping. Their key info was that anyone who is not a citizen should meet with an immigration lawyer, and they have resources on their website.

Hello Indivisibles!
It was great to see familiar and new faces at our meeting on 5/15. We talked about an Indivisible meeting with Keating, where he told us to keep standing up, calling, and sharing personal stories of how this administration is impacting us. He has been having conversations with his Republican colleagues and finds them to still be highly dug in to Trump's ideas. He did talk about impeachment--and how we need to flip the House in 2026 to make this move forward. We also talked about events, and how to include more younger adults in our work.

Monthly community action, with focus on accessibility for all (rides to protest, stools for seating, etc.)
Show of support daily/weekly and monthly by joining in local protest actions.
Work to engage/attract younger people and families to our movement. Think: Lawson Tower music, and sign making and art projects. “Science is science!’
Beach mural project idea: One suggestion is for a collaborative community project, such as an art teacher-led collaborative beach murals project for everyone in the community, especially families and children. All in support of our values and goals..
Interest in working in small groups to discuss issues and challenges
